The Artist

Growing up in Germany as the child of Polish parents, I feel more European than belonging to a nation and am fascinated by the cultural heritage of my home continent. Travelling is my source of inspiration as it allows me to learn about history, archaelogy and foreign cultures. After successfully completing my studies of architecture and interior design in Düsseldorf, I hold the title Master of Arts today. The final thesis of my studies was honoured with a scholarship for my commitment to the preservation of historical monuments in Düsseldorf and its surroundings.

 

In my work, I explore the subject of landscapes as the mirror of an inner emotional world. I believe that the things we notice on the outside are a reflection of ourselves, which is why I prefer to refer to my landscape paintings as “soulscapes”. Foreign environments, such as those we encounter when travelling, have great potential to show us aspects of our personality that we are unaware of in familiar surroundings. Those are the moments in which a landscape allows us to get in touch with our unconscious dreams and feelings. When I paint, I like to envision how viewers discover a part of themselves through art that they were previously unaware of, thus coming closer to the realisation of who they truly are.

 

Furthermore, my work is inspired by a deep connection to Italy. In the Mediterranean country, I discovered plein-air painting which awakened my enthusiasm for travel art. Florence is my favourite city in the whole world. For a long time, I wondered whether there are still beautiful things on this earth due to concerning developments such as climate change, wars and pandemics. In Florence I realised: Yes, the world is full of wonders. And my artworks are a testimony to that.
